My work reflects my love of the natural world and I find joy in the meditative stillness of painting.
I grew up in Omagh, Northern Ireland, surrounded by the Sperrin Mountains. I vacationed on the beautiful Donegal coast and spent timeless summers at my Grandparent’s farm in County Cavan, with freedom to roam the land; I was enchanted by the scenery and atmosphere.
Before moving to the Santa Cruz area, California, I lived in the Lake District, England.
I paint plein air or in my studio, using oils, acrylic or watercolor, and strive to capture the spirit and energy of the subject.
I am inspired by the pristine coasts, landscapes, and flowers of California, Ireland and other locations. The French Impressionists, such as Monet, also influence my work.
I am currently working on a series of ocean paintings and a Mandala series on beach stones, paper and canvas. I continue to pursue my long-time interest in Tibetan Thanka painting, depicting sacred images from that tradition.
Another one of my loves is creating children’s stories and storytelling, with themes about compassion, transformation and lots of magic!
